Decision

All of the brains got together today- the oncologists, the surgeons, and the infectious disease doctor- and they have decided that it is time to remove Maddy's central line. Waiting to see if the infection clears just puts Maddy further behind on her chemo treatments. We would rather have a new line than give those leukemia cells any chance of sneaking back in. She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow to remove her central line and put in a temporary picc line in her arm. They will then treat a day or two more with antibiotics and then do chemo. Then the doctors will decide the best time to have a more permanent line put back in.

  1. Hey Maddy!

Glad the brains have this figured out and planned out now, but sorry you have to have your central line removed! I'm happy to hear you will soon be able to start your next chemo treatment. We will be praying all goes smoothly and quickly!

I also wanted to say "hi" from Uncle Brian, Brandon, Tyler, Champ, and Whiskers too!!

    We love you!!
    XOXOXO

  2. Hey Miss Mushroom,

Well at least they figured out what to do and what will be best for you. At least you can get your treatments going again and be closer to having them done! Be brave and strong little mushroom. Daisy will be praying for you today like every other day! Don't forget to keep drinking and let them know if you need more orange crush.

Make sure you do some "sock puppet" shows with your dad. Bet he will like that!!

    Hang in there kiddo.

    Love you,
    Daisy

  3. Maddy,

Happy Valentine's Day! We missed you at our party. We really liked your box and the class voted it as the "Prettiest" Valentine box. We are sending you a yummy strawberry cupcake that Emma and her mom made. You have many Valentine's cards to open. We hope you can Skype again soon because we miss you.

    Love,
    Your 3rd Grade Class
