Day 8 Test Results

We received word today that the blast cells in Maddy's bone marrow are still above the 5%, so she will have to have another bone marrow test on Friday. The doctor said we should not be worried about this, so we will try not to be worried! The important thing is for this percentage to go down between Day 15 and Day 28 of treatment. This is the reason for the extra bone marrow test- so they have a baseline number. We are praying that Maddy's body continues to respond to the treatments. On a lighter note, the steroids that Maddy is taking have kicked into gear. Maddy is eating everything in sight and sometimes has cravings for things we don't have in the house. Right now my wonderful neighbor, Lilli, is out in search of boneless teriyaki wings and curly fries. Did I mention that the steroids make Maddy very impatient and moody too?? : )

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope everyone is able to spend some quality time with family and friends!

I forgot---my mom said we have a Skype account on our computer here at home. We also have a camera on our computer, so we can talk to each other. We will have to make a time to talk and see each other. Won't that be cool?! :)

Also---I am making you another surprise :)

  5. Hi Maddy Patty,
The kids loved seeing you on Skype! Your hair is cute! Your Mom told me that Julia read you that new Thanksgiving book. Did you think it was funny? Who will carve your Thanksgiving turkey?
Do you like the Henry and Mudge books? I'll send a few of them home with your Mom. There is a Christmas one.

Have a fun Thanksgiving. You are a gutsy girl so I know you will brave on Friday! Take a cuddly teddy bear along and hold on tight when the nurses are doing things you don't like.

Remember: God is Good all the time; all the time God is Good! God will take good care of you!

    Love, Miss Heckel

  9. Hi Maddy,
I read Trey note to you ---- I so glad many of the kids in our class are sending you messages. I think it is fun -- I hope you do to. Trey is sure hoping the red group gets to eat lunch in the room. And maybe they will win this month but Monday it will still be November so we'll have to wait and see. We'll surely let you know how it works out and hopefully you can join us through skype! Also wanted to tell you I forgot to send the Henry and Mudge books with you Mom today. I'll make sure you get them next week. Hang in there kiddo ---- enjoy lots of turkey and other yummy things this week! Loads of love, Miss Heckel

  14. Hi Maddy and Family,

I just got home from my brother Tom's house. We had way to much to eat! My favorite was the yummy mashed potatoes! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving feast as well! What was your favorite thing to eat? I've been wondering and hoping and praying that you had a fun day!

Be brave tomorrow at St. V's. I know you will because you are a super girl with lots of gusto. Tell those doctors and nurses you want perfect test results! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you all day!

Remember God is GOOD all the time, All the time God is Good!

    Love, Miss Heckel
