Phase Three- Last Treatment

Maddy had her last treatment in Phase 3 on Friday (2/26). Her counts remained good throughout this whole phase and everything took place on schedule. She now has two weeks off of treatment and we just have to monitor her blood counts locally. If all goes well, we are scheduled to start Phase 4 on March 16th. Phase 4 is pretty intense, so we are trying not to think about it much yet. We are going to enjoy the next couple of weeks.

Maddy lost another tooth this past week. She now has a very big whole on the top and bottom. We tell her that she is soon going to be hairless AND toothless if she keeps this up! : )

Maddy sends her love Miss Heckel...

  1. Well look at you, Maddy. What a wonderful artist you are! You are also very thoughtful to be writing your teacher such a lovely card.
I hope you have a wonderful two weeks off and that you and Julia get to do lots of fun things together. I really liked the picture of you two outside with your snow angels. Did your Mom print that and put it in your rooms? I hope so.
I am in Fort Wayne this weekend taking care of my Grandchildren, Gibson and Maisie. We are playing and having so much fun. I love to visit them. They are three years old and almost 2.
I hope you have a good weekend.
    Love

  2. Dear Maddy,
Wow kiddo, you look so cute without those all those teeth. Your Mom is right, pretty soon you are going to to be hairless and toothless! I'm so proud of you ---- I hear everything went well with your treatment on Friday! I know you can do it; so keep fighting with that ugly old cancer guy! Maybe we need to get "Fly Guy' after your leukemia and my heart!

I love the heart you made me. It's on the bulletin board in my room --- whenever I open my eyes I see it right away! For the cath the other day those silly nurses made me take off my Maddy bracelet but then I put it on as soon as they were done! On Wedsnesday I do not think they will let me wear it to surgery. I'm going to make them promise to put it right back on after I get back to my room. I'm glad your newest bracelet fits you ! I'm so glad you like it! I'll wear your lime green bracelet and you wear mine. Then I know we will both get better!!!

Remember: Do your best, don't settle for less. God is Good all the Time; all the time God is Good!

    Lots of Love,
    Miss Heckel

  3. Hi Maddy,

I saw Miss Heckel yesterday and one of the first things she asked me was to get her Maddy bracelet and put it back on her! So, I did. The nurse was in there and asked me who Maddy is so I told her all about you. She thinks you sound like a very brave and cool kid! I told her that she is right! Miss Heckel was so glad to have your bracelet back on. She couldn't get out of bed yet to get it herself, but she knew right where it was so I could get it for her. So you see, you are helping Miss Heckel get better too! I am sure she will write to you as soon as she is feeling better! She has the pink heart that you made her in her room too, right where she can see it!

Keep up the great work! You are doing so good and everyone is so proud of you!

Did you take AR test on the Fly Guy books I sent you?

    See you soon.
    Love,
    Mrs. Buehrer
