Christmas Party

Today, our family went to a Christmas Party that was hosted by the Oncology Department at St. V's. Maddy did not feel up to partying much, but it was good to get out. We met and talked to a family that went through what we are going through. It was nice to talk to them and it gave us some comfort knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Maddy and Julia got to get their picture taken with Santa. As you can see, the steroids that Maddy is taking make her cheeks chubby. We tease her that she is storing food in them so when she wakes up hungry at night, she has a snack to eat! : )

It is hard to believe that this coming Friday will be Day 29 of Maddy's treatment and the end of what they call the "Induction" phase of treatment. (Time flies even when you are not having fun!) On Friday, Maddy will have a chemo treatment, bone marrow test, and spinal tap. The doctors will send her bone marrow in for testing. Based on the results of these tests, we will find out what the the next phase of treatment will hold for Maddy.

  1. Hi,
I'm sure the party was fun! Santa can make about anything fun. Did you tell him what you want for Christmas or give him a list. That's a pretty fancy headband you have on your head. I'm certain that it did feel good to go somewhere today ---- even if it was cold. I'm sure you were all bundled up!

I heard some little elves put some Christmas lights outside your house. That's cool -- do they look good! I also heard some good neighbors are looking out for you. They thought you had burglars so they call Officer Helmke. It would be funny to see the names of those elves in the Buckeye or in jail. :)

I hope you have a good week! Don't fill those cute chipmunk cheeks too full!

Do you want to skype tomorrow? I'll talk to your Mom or Dad about it.

God is GOOD all the time; all the time God is GOOD!

    Love, Miss Heckel

  2. Hi Maddy~

It's Mason! I hope you had a good time at the Christmas Party. I saw Santa today at the Defiance mall. I just waved at him.

I got a new book from my Grandma and Grandpa. It is How to Draw Robots, Androids, and Cyborgs. I drew one for Molly. Maybe I will draw one for you, too.

I hope to see you on SKYPE tomorrow---we might get to eat in the classroom and see you then, too.

You look beautiful in the pictures. I miss you!

    Love,

    Mason

  4. Dear Maddy and the whole Lambert family!

Looks like you had fun at the party. As much fun as you can have when you don't feel so good, huh! Time is weird when you are not having fun! it does keep moving! Sometime real slow, an other times you wonder where the days went! Is it like that for you? Know that we are praying for the meds to work! We hope that you get good news on Friday! I bet it will be good to have a plan! When Isaac was sick, I always felt better when we had a plan. Even when it changed, I wanted a plan! And as Miss Heckel says, God is good, ALL THE TIME!

    Peace,
    The Reicherts

  6. Hi Lamberts,
I was having trouble sleeping, so I decided to check in here. What a nice surprise to see Santa with 2 great looking girls!! Julia showed me her super-awesome animal braclets! My kids have been searching all over creation for those silly things. Maybe Santa will be able to bring them some for Christmas! Julia said it was fun and I know she wouldn't lie. :) I'm glad you went. I'm sure it was good to connect with people who have been through similar tough times.
We continue to pray for you each day.

Thanks for keeping us all updated...no matter what time of the day... or night!
    Shannon

  8. Hi Maddy,
I glad that you got to see Santa. Did you ask him for some cool toys for Christmas? I told my Mom I want a pony and an Ipod. My Mom said the pony would be a small stuffed one. I'm sad that I didn't get to see you on Skype today I hope you feel better. I just read a Fancy Nancy book do you like those?
    Love
    Megan :)

  10. Dear Maddy and the Lambert family,

Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with your family as you go through this journey together. We have a good idea of what you are experiencing since our son went through the same thing thirteen years ago. Michael was almost five years old when he was diagnosed with ALL and today he is 18, and a senior at Pettisville. Praise God for His gift of healing! Reading your blog has brought back many memories, both sad and happy, about that time in our lives. Maddy's growing appetite reminds us of the day Michael ate a pound of bologna while we were visiting at a friend's house! And we also remember those nasty spinal taps when you as parents wish you could take your child's place. The prayers and support of your family and friends will carry you through as you rely on the strength only God can give. If you would ever like to talk with us, we'd be happy and honored to spend some time with you. We'll be in touch after the holidays. May the peace of Christ be with you this Christmas season.

And, be sure and give Maddy a hug for us.

    Blessings,

    Lonnie, Barb & Michael Rufenacht
