Day 29

Maddy's procedures went well today. She is so brave! We are still in the hospital though. Her tummy is still not the best, but it seems to be better today. The doctors are starting to wean her off some of the antibiotics and they did another X-Ray. We haven't seen that yet to know what is going on. Maddy's hemoglobin (red blood cells) also dropped so she had to have another blood transfusion today before her procedures. If it's not one thing, it's another!

Maddy did feel good enough to go to the playroom today. The American Legion visited and read a story to the kids about a dog who went to the hospital and they gave all the kids the book and a stuffed dog named Josh. Channel 11 news was there and the Maumee newspaper, The Mirror. Maddy may be a celebrity! : )

We hope to get Maddy home soon. We'll let you know.

P.S. from Maddy- The Tooth Fairy found me! She left me a dollar and it was folded up into a little square under my pillow. Mom and Dad took pictures of me with my missing tooth. They will post them when we get home.

  1. Hi Maddy,

We were glad the tooth fairy found you. We were wondering how she was able to fold the dollar bill. If you become famous on TV, can we have your autograph? Hope your tummy feels better so that you can come home soon.

  5. Maddy,
I knew the tooth fairy would find you! What are you going to do with your dollar? We had a good day at school today. It was still too cold to play outside at recess. We went to Mrs. Coressel's class to watch a readers' theater of 'Arthur's Christmas.' They are good readers.

I'll watch Channel 11 News tonight at 11:00 and I hope you are on! No matter what you are a celebrity around Archbold!

I am so proud of you! You are the bravest 1st grader I have ever known. Keep listening to those doctors and nurses. I hope you are home soon!

God is Good all the time, All the time God is Good!

    Lots of Love, Miss Heckel

  6. Congratulation on losing your tooth, Maddy! I read your excerpt about the Tooth Fairy finding you. That is awesome! My grandchildren were waiting to hear if she found you. My grandson, Zavier, is six, also. He prayers with his brother and sister every night for you. They hope to see you in their home town newspaper, The Mirror! Praying that you get home soon and can enjoy eating some Christmas goodies!

  7. Dear Maddy,
What good news to hear the Tooth Fairy found you! That's pretty cool. I can't believe you got a whole dollar! What are you saving your money to buy... a zhu-zhu pet? Julia had fun last night. We watched a couple movies... but not Elf. She said it's your new favorite and you watch it all the time. It's my favorite, too! It's really funny! I think I'll watch it today and think about you when the racoon gives Buddy a "hug"!! HA! And don't get any ideas about sneaking some chewed-up gum off of a fence! ick.

I hope you are home soon. I know Julia misses you. So do Max and Princess. The shuttle bus crew at AMS miss you, too.

We keep praying for you and your family every day! I'm so proud of your bravery!!

    Love, Mrs. Schmucker

  8. Hi Maddy,
What kind of stuffed dog did you get? I have a stuffed dalmation dog I named it Spots. Do you have any more loose teeth? I have a loose tooth right now. My Dad found two baby kittens in our barn last night. One is yellow and the other one is black. The yellow one bit my Dad's finger. My brother & I are going outside to play with our puppy and try to find the kittens. I hope they bite my brother and not me. I hope your belly feels better soon and you get to come home. We pray for you everyday.
    Love
Megan & the rest of my family :)
