Weekly Hospital Stay

Well, we have once again taken our weekly trip back to the hospital. Maddy was admitted again on Tuesday (12/8) for her stomach issues. If we counted correctly, we have spent 11 nights out of the past 27 in the hospital. YUCK!! The doctors are running more tests and watching Maddy. We aren't sure when she will be able to come home.

On a more exciting note, Maddy has a loose bottom tooth. With a little more wiggling, she should lose her first tooth soon! The Tooth Fairy may have to make a trip to the hospital! : )

Depending on how Maddy is doing, she may be in the hospital until Friday. This is the big day- the end of the Induction Phase of treatment. We are praying that Maddy's bone marrow has less than .1% (that's less than 1/10th %) blast cells, which if we are understanding correctly, will put her in a lower risk category. By next week, we should have the next "road map" outlining the next phase of treatment.

  1. Hi Maddy,

Today I had a meeting and Mrs. Conway was the substitute. She is a fun teacher. Mrs. Buehrer told me our class was too noisy in the library. Uh-oh! I'll have to ask them what happened. I guess everyone was talking all the time and at once.

Do you have a computer that you can use at the hospital? Here are a couple of fun Christmas websites you can check out:

I've been thinking about you all day long. Remember "God is Good all the time, all the time God is Good!"

I love you Maddy! Be a good girl!

  2. Maddy~

Yes, I was Miss Heckel today! We had a good day....but they certainly were noisy in the library. Mostly just some boys. ;) Today was zero the hero day for the 70th day of school. Mason was excited because his card was picked to wear a zero the hero shirt. :) Emily and Walker were the leaders today. We read a Henry and Mudge Christmas book together and took our spelling tests. I did miss seeing your smiling face in your seat. We said a prayer for you at the end of the day--we asked for you to be brave on Friday for your tests and for you to know that we are all "there" with you!!!

Praying for you and your family always!!!

    Love you sweetie!

  4. WOW Maddy! Your first tooth is loose. How exciting! Make sure your mom takes a picture of you with your missing tooth for all of us to see. I am sure the tooth fairy will have no problem finding your tooth under your pillow no matter where you are spending the night. I am sending lots of hugs and prayers your way in the hopes that you hear some great news about your cell counts on Friday.

Can you hear the wind blowing outside your hospital window tonight? I am afraid it might blow over my girls' swingset!

    Sweet Dreams,

  6. Hi Maddy,
How is that tooth doing? Is it still wiggling or has it come out? Be sure to tell all of your nurses whenever it does out so they let the tooth fairy in your room while you are sleeping.
Today was a better day at school. Your friends were not so noisy. We have a bunch of stuff on your desk for you. Most of it is fun but some of it is work.
I'll be praying for you tonight and all day tomorrow. Be brave and tell those doctors and nurses to be nice to you!

Remembeer God is Good all the time, all the time God is Good!

    Love and miss you honey,
    Miss Heckel

  7. Maddy,

We keep praying for you. We'll pray extra hard tomorrow when you get your tests done. We will also pray for strength because those tests don't sound fun.

I miss you at school. I hope your tooth comes out soon. I have another loose one. I already have 3 missing right now.

I hope your stomach doesn't hurt as much anymore. I hope you can come home again soon.

    God loves you!
